CURTIN OPEN DAY
Despite the rainy weather a tremendous crowd turned out for the Curtin Open Day on August 16th. In excess of 16,000 people visited the Curtin campus throughout the day. Almost 500 people patiently waited in line to participate in tours of the Curtin FM 100.1 studios.Listeners had the opportunity to meet with the Curtin FM 100.1 team of staff and volunteers and were entertained by a lineup of guests headed by volunteer presenters Dean Martin and Adam Penn.
The second hand stall and the sausage sizzle tent were well patronised as was the Retirees WA display. Curtin FM 100.1 thanks John Hughes,Retirees WA and all our wonderful team who gave their time to make open day another memorable event on the Curtin FM 2009 calendar.

Radiothon major prize winner Kevin Horner of Gosnells was presented with his prize, a bright red Hyundai Getz sedan at the Open Day. Here he is pictured with major prize donor John Hughes. Below is the Horner family pictured with the car, John Hughes, and Keith Taylor (with matching red hat!!!)

Country visitors - Recently a group of students from Corrigin High School visited Curtin FM 100.1 for a workshop on "radio" conducted by Keith Taylor and Rhonda Jackson. These students along with their English teacher are in the process of setting up a narrow cast community radio station within the school to broadcast to the Corrigin district.
The purpose of the visit was to learn about the operation of a radio station. Curtin FM 100.1 as part of its on going community commitment is working closely with the school to assist it to achieve its aim of operating a radio station.
