Meet some of our Volunteers

WarrenH

Producer/Assistant

I have been at Curtin Radio since 2000, mostly working with Peter Waltham on ‘Mornings’, but fill in on other programs when needed.

My wife and I like to travel. We visit family in Sydney but try to include another location somewhere on the East coast or New Zealand.  Anywhere overseas is also, always on the agenda.

I am Dad to two, and Poppy to three – one in Sydney and two here in Perth.

Even after 15 years, I still enjoy coming into Curtin Radio – and very much enjoy talking and interacting with our new and regular callers.

LawrenceN

Presenter

9pm – midnight Saturday Nights

Lawrence has been broadcasting on our Saturday Night Flashback Party now for three years.

Now an Australian citizen, he came over to Perth almost six years ago.

A primary school teacher by trade, Lawrence lives with his wife and three beautiful children.

BarryR

Production Assistant (PA)

I have been with Curtin FM since mid-2015 and find the experience most rewarding. Working in Aged Care for several years before retiring and, transporting our clients to and from a Day Centre each day, the radio was always tuned to Curtin FM.

Our elderly clients always enjoyed the music and it gave me the idea of volunteering with the radio station when I did retire.

I usually work with Ray Finn on the “Drive” program but have occasionally filled in on other programmes when necessary. My wife and I love to travel and I enjoy photography and computer technology.

WendyB

Volunteer Co-Ordinator

Prior to retiring I was a dedicated listener of Curtin FM so decided to offer my services as a volunteer to help fill the void left after a thirty five year career in Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine. Now I wonder how I had time to work.

My role at Curtin is to assist with production of Jenny Seaton’s Afternoon Show, supporting Peter Waltham on his Friday’s Morning Show and planning the on-going Volunteer roster.

I very much enjoy my time spent at the radio station and get great pleasure hearing people say “I listen to Curtin Radio and love it”.

FayG

Since retiring from the paid workforce at the end of 2013, I have been enjoying my new “laid back” lifestyle which now includes being able to have “coffee and cake” more often than I should, being a grandma to gorgeous youngsters and volunteering at CurtinFM.

Many of the CurtinFM team have generously given their time (and patience) to train me in a variety of roles at the station. They are a great bunch to work with.

Volunteering is all about “putting your hand up”, “having a go” and “having fun”!
